Friday Mood by St Louis born—French entertaine Friday Mood by St Louis born—French entertainer—WWII spy—civilian rights activist 🌟Josephine Baker🌟 Josephine started her career at 15 yrs dancing in the streets, collecting money from onlookers. Eventually moving to New York City and on to Paris where she became one of the most sought-after performers due to her distant dancing style and unique costumes. When France was invaded in WWII, Baker joined the fight against the Nazi regime. She aided French military by passing on secrets she heard while performing in front of the enemy. The confidential information was written with invisible ink on sheet music. When Baker returned to American she confronted segregation and discrimination. She refused to perform to segregated audiences forcing club owners to integrate her shows. Her personal life was a testament to her political agenda. Baker adopted 13 children from different countries, calling her family “the rainbow tribe” and took her children on the road in an effort to show that racial and cultural harmony could exist.
