This afternoon I’m preparing to say goodbye to m This afternoon I’m preparing to say goodbye to my sweet little soul mate, Dublin. After 5 weeks of not eating and barely being able to walk, he held on to life and love with awe inspiring passion and purpose, he baffled us week after week with his strength and zest to keep going, performing what can only be called miracles in his crippled state, culminating in this Monday night’s last hurrah—going totally off the radar to rendezvous with a mystery white cat. Dublin chose today, a poetic timing to bid us farewell. It’s time to send him back to whatever mystical place he came from beyond the sea and clouds ⛅️ to reunite with Jonesy. My two angels together again. This last morning together I was sitting on the floor with Dublin and across the room some books toppled over on the bookshelf, for no apparent reason other than a signal from beyond. It was, Born for Love—Reflections on Loving by Leo Buscaglia and Thomas Merton The Seven Storey Mountain, where the books split in two. Born for Love...there is no better way to describe Dublin and heaven knows it! I opened to a bookmark at page 57 and it read: Dying comes naturally to all, having the courage to live does not Life is ours to do with it as we will. We can accept what comes with a sad sort of resignation, or we can rage against it with passion. We can find life as exaltation or subjugation, as cause for bliss or despondency, ecstasy or emptiness. The point is that the choice is ours! The most compelling force for love and a life lived fully comes when we have acquired a genuine acceptance of the reality that no one has forever. “There is time for work. And there is time for love.
