Moon Cottage: A St. John Romance
Like all speculator things made by man, Moon Cottage Villa started as a dream. It began one beautiful St. John morning as a man hiked an ancient hillside and once at the top, climbed a tree, only to gaze upon the view that would spark the imagination of Moon Cottage. That tree became known as the “Spirit Tree” and remains as an integral part of the villa, as it continues to grow through the roof close to the entrance, in a magical corner of the property. This ancient hillside, now known as Calabash Boom, is home to several pearly eyed thrasher birds (seen below), who enjoy perching upon the branches of the “Spirit Tree” while singing beautiful songs, creating music with the wind chime mixed with the sound of the breeze caressing the palms. Moon Cottage villa exudes Asian-Caribbean design and charm: secluded, serene, simple and visually stunning. Welcome to Moon Cottage.
It was the perfect setting to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, surrounded by the beauty of nature that will always be synonymous with our wedding day, even the pearly eye thrasher that fluttered above us as we recited our vows made a return appearance and treated himself to some delicious wedding cake.
