An Afternoon on Lake Como

Riding a Riva around Lake Como on a perfect Spring afternoon can only be compared to visiting the gates of heaven. I still cannot believe that this place is real, it genuinely feels like a dream. This boating excursion was nothing short of a life changer—having to come to terms with the idea that there are limitless little Italian nooks and crannies to be discovered and fawned over. I gazed in awe of it's authenticity and beauty. With ever turn of the head another unbelievable spectacle of wonder. I could spend a lot of time in Lake Como, a lot. Maybe it's ingrained in my DNA to feel so comfortable in this setting, after all my grandfather, Samuel Angelo, came from a village perched on the side of a mountain two hours east of Rome, closely resembling these parts.

This Monique Lhuillier dress could not have been more perfect for this particular setting and activity. The long sleeves and skirt protected me from the bright sun while the extremely light weight fabric allowed for the breeze to be felt. I find this silhouette to be quintessential Lake Como. The long dress or maxi skirt is a must—partially to protect yourself from long days in the sun and partially to hide the fact that you are not wearing heels. It's nearly impossible to wear anything other than flat shoes with rubber bottoms that can grip the ground since you will be walking on uneven cobblestone up and down hills, and of course in and out of boats.
