Trend Report: Zipper Pants

The zipper was originally invented to make form fitting clothes easier to slide into. It was for function rather than fashion. This SS17 season we saw a lot of zip additions to pants from the likes of Hood By Air, Off-White and Louis Vuitton. Off-White's take on the trend threw me back to the early 2000s. Models came down the runway with pants that were reminiscent of your favorite basketball teams warm ups. Instead of snaps on the side lining for easy removal, it was zippers. Louis Vuitton added zippers to the front of just about every pair of pants that came down the runway. From sheer lace to tailored trousers, each pair had zip closures front and center on either leg.  Hood By Air, season after season, always plays with the variations zippers can bring to an article of clothing. This year was no different. Designer Shayne Oliver sent pants down the runway with single zip closures on the left leg that were visible from thigh to ankle.

Want to try the trend now? Here are some pants with the perfect zip detailing.
